Pet-Friendly Cabin Rentals....Nobody Gets Left Behind!
At HearthSide Cabin Rentals we believe that nobody (even pets) should be left behind. We offer a variety of overnight rental accomodations that allow you to bring the four-legged family members with you. Isn't it wonderful that for once you won't have to wonder how your best friend is doing in the kennel "back home." At HearthSide Cabin Rentals, nobody gets left behind.
Just look for an indication on any particular cabin we have that it is pet-friendly. Sorry, but because each cabin is privately owned (and it is up to the owner whether or not to allow pets), only those cabins designated as pet-friendly can have dogs stay. We allow only dogs with a weight limit of UP TO 35 pounds with a $55.00 one-time nonrefundable pet cleaning fee (for EACH dog you bring). Some cabins will allow LARGER dogs. There is a $75.00 pet fee for larger pets.(OVER 35 POUNDS).
We require that pet owners clean up after their pets and refrain from letting the dog sleep in the beds or on the bedcovers. Please do not allow your dog to lie down or sit on fabric sofas or chairs -- we will provide you with extra sheets for this if needed. This is to prevent any problems with fleas and to prevent extra cleaning charges for excessive hair or dirt (which will be charged back to the guest).

How to pick your Gatlinburg cabin
•How to Pick Your Gatlinburg Cabin
Selecting a Gatlinburg rental cabin...It can be very confusing. You surf the internet, searching through the many rental companies and dozens of pictures trying to find the "perfect" rental cabin for your Gatlinburg vacation. It can be a difficult process, and, even with the greatest care, you might not end up with the best possible cabin for your needs. So the issue is this: How do you wade through the thousands of cabins available for rent in the Gatlinburg area to get to the cabin that best suits your vacation needs?
Our first suggestion is to back away from the computer and put down the mouse. Pick up a pen and paper and make a short list of the things that you must have in your cabin. Then you will make a slightly longer list of the things you would like to have in your cabin. The last list is going to be the things that would be nice, but not necessary. These lists are going to be your search criteria that will help you narrow down your choices. Now you will go back to the computer and start your search for your Gatlinburg rental cabin.
With any luck, in your online searches you have narrowed down your choice of rental companies to four or five frontrunners & they all have the ability to do online searches. Using your criteria to narrow your choices, do a search for the cabins that suit as many of your needs as possible. After culling out the cabins that are booked or not suitable you should have at least one or two cabins from each rental company that will fill your needs. NOW is the time to call the rental companies. Be sure to have a sheet of paper with each cabin's name on it so you can take down notes for each one. There are some questions you will want to ask; be sure to take good notes of the answers you get. (Just as a suggestion I would be sure to note on the top of each page the name of the reservations person you spoke with so you can always follow-up later.)
The questions you will want to ask are as follows:
"How close is the nearest neighbor?"
"What is the driving distance to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Dollywood?"
"How many steps up to the first level?"
"How steep is the driveway/road to access this unit?"
"What is the final in-the-door price including tax?"
"How old is this cabin?"
"When was the last renovation of this cabin?"
Once you have answers to all of these questions you should be able to narrow your choices down to just a couple of cabins.

Reopening of Cades Cove Loop Road
This just in from the National Park Service:
Cades Cove Loop Road will reopen on Saturday, April 24th — about a month earlier than anticipated.
In recognition of the completion of this long-overdue project and of National Park Week, the Park is planning two celebratory events. A Field Day has been set for Saturday, April 24 when only bicycles and pedestrians will be permitted on the road until noon. On Sunday morning, April 25 the Park and the Friends of the Smokies are planning a one-time-only “Cades Cove Loop Lope,” which will offer pre-registered runners a choice of the full 11 mile loop or a 3.5 mile loop course. Both events are being planned to minimize visitor inconvenience.

I-40 is still closed.
Interstate I-40 is closed between Exit 451 in Tennessee and Exit 15 in North Carolina due to a rock slide. For information about the slide, including a map of the official detour, please visit the North Carolina Department of Transportation website.
Please note: NC-284 is not a recommended detour. This is a very narrow, winding, gravel road with sharp turns, switchbacks, and drop-offs. Commercial traffic is prohibited on this road.

Wedding chapel in Pigeon Forge Gatlinburg area
Gatlinburg's Little Log Wedding Chapel is one of the premier wedding chapels in Gatlinburg. Since your life as a couple begins on your wedding day, it should be filled with sentimental moments that will stay fresh in your memory. No better place exists in which to hold a romantic Gatlinburg wedding ceremony. This is your very special occasion and our desire is to provide you with not only memories that will last a lifetime but help you plan your romantic dream wedding.
Our Creekside Cove wedding chapel is constructed entirely of logs, resembling the early churches found in Great Smoky Mountains over one hundred years ago. The inside of our chapel also reflects the beauty and tranquility of what Gatlinburg represents with beautifully decorated exposed overhead beams, hard wood flooring, wooden pews, an antique pump organ (for display only) and a beautiful wooded setting, right beside a babbling creek. We can accommodate as many as 25 guests, but are quaint enough for a smaller, more intimate wedding.
Our Creekside Cove wedding chapel is situated in a secluded area away 10 minutes away from downtown Pigeon Forge. The setting offers picture opportunities by the chapel itself, the wooden bridge and the lovely babbling creek out back.
Call today to book this lovely chapel for your special event.

Pets in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Dogs are allowed in campgrounds, picnic areas, and along roads, but must be kept on a leash at all times. The leash must not exceed 6 feet in length. Dogs are only allowed on two short walking paths—the Gatlinburg Trail and the Oconaluftee River Trail. Pets are not allowed on any other park trails. Pet excrement must be immediately collected by the pet handler and disposed of in a trash receptacle. Pets should not be left unattended in vehicles or RVs.
Water safety in the National Park
Water recreation is not recommended in Great Smoky Mountains National Park due to numerous hazards and dangers. Drowning is one of the leading causes of death in the park. Innumerable injuries have resulted from people swimming and riding inner tubes in park waters.
